The importance of spending less than you earn

This article is going to be discussing subject matter that is very important for working people to be quite familiar with; the importance of spending less than you earn. There are many people in modern society that make the very common mistake of thinking that just because they earn a certain amount of money each month that they can simply use that dollar amount as their monthly spending limit. This is a very poor practice for a variety of very good reasons and this article is going to help more people understand exactly why this is so.

It doesn't matter what a person's level of income is, they are going to need some type of savings. There is simply no way around this. If a person is spending all of their earnings then they have nothing to put into savings. People that eliminate any possibility of a savings account are forcing their selves to actually have to live from one paycheck to the next one. It should go without saying that this type of lifestyle offers no flexibility whatsoever. There are a number of really great reasons why somebody is going to want to have some type of savings account.

A savings account is kind of like a little extra padding for financial flexibility. There are a number of times in which average people are going to need this type of padding and flexibility (although I know some people who lost belief in the savings account). Most people are all too familiar with the fact that emergencies do happen. What if this emergency involves a broken car? This car could be the very vehicle that the owner uses to actually transport their self to and from their job. By having a little bit of extra padding in the savings account the owner of the car can easily have it fixed. Without the savings a person is going to have to take directly from their paycheck. A person that spends all of what they earn is going to have much less money to spend on consumption because they had to use their spending money on the emergency that just happened to come up.

A savings is not only for flexibility when emergencies occur either. Normal, working people are going to want to do certain recreational things from time to time. It is these experiences that take the monotony out of day to day life. People that spend one hundred percent of what they regularly earn can only have recreational fun if they cut what they consume for that pay period. People that save a good portion of what they earn will have enough padding at the local bank to easily enjoy a very nice vacation (or evening out) without having to carefully monitor what they consume before and after said event.

It is hoped that by this point more readers are able to understand the importance of spending less than you earn. All responsible people will typically build a level of padding within their savings that allows for the easy handling of emergencies as well as recreational events. This makes life easier and also more fulfilling in the long run of things.
